The first few minutes saw both teams locked in a central zone struggle, setting the tone for the entire game. Scrums, mauls, and passes dominated, but neither team made significant headway up the pitch. Beccles' powerful scrummaging repeatedly won them possession, but territory gains were minimal. Eventually, Woodbridge powered through to score the opening try.

From the restart, Beccles finally broke past the halfway line, battling through several phases to score the equalizer. Woodbridge responded, but the game remained stuck in Beccles' half with no real gains or losses. An inspirational interception saw Beccles' number 13 in a thrilling foot race to the try line, only to be thwarted by Woodbridge's defense. Despite retaining the ball and pushing valiantly, Beccles was ultimately denied.
