Beccles 22 – Colchester 31

For the second week in a row Beccles played in a top of the table clash. They kicked off against a strong wind and after good work by the forwards, were rewarded with an early try with Hinsley breaking off a maul to score.
Colchester soon took control with some good attacking play by the backs and aggresive rucking from the forwards and managed 2 tries to give a half-time score of 5-14.
As the second half began, Beccles started to exert pressure of their own with strong runs from centre Wilson, before moving to his usual position of prop. However, 2 further break-away tries from Colchester increased their lead.
With time running out, Beccles finally started to play to their true ability and began to stage a comeback. Tries from Geyser, Sale and a second for Hinsley soon followed.
It was looking like more points would follow but sadly time was against them and the final whistle blew with the score at 22-31.
Beccles next game is away to Upminster where they will hope to return to winning ways.
