Billericay 43 – Beccles 0
A depleted Beccles squad suffered a heavy loss when they travelled down to Billericay. Beccles improved in the second half but still went down by 43 – 0. The Beccles injury and unavailability list was added to by Hinsley and Wilson. Moon and Giddens were brought in to the side and Pennington made his league debut from the bench. David Rix took over as captain for the day. Beccles started off the game playing up the hill in to a strong wind. This meant they spent most of their time on their own line. Billericay had a strong rolling maul and in stopping this Beccles left gaps in their defence and Billericay were able to score at regular intervals. Beccles conceded six tries before half time giving a half time score of 36 – 0. The performance improved in the second half and Billericay didn’t have it all their own way. Beccles began to disrupt the play better led by Musker McIntyre man of the match Johnstone. Billericay only managed one try in the second half and Beccles created chances of their own. They came closest to scoring when Wade was held up over the line. IN the end the final score was 43 – 0. Despite this defeat the Beccles season is still in their own hands. They currently sit 5th and three wins from their remaining three games will see them finish in 4th, their highest ever finish. This starts on Saturday when they entertain Upminster on Saturday when Beccles will be looking for revenge for a last minute loss in the game at the start of the season.
