Beccles 32 – Campion 10
Beccles had a convincing win over bottom side Campion at Beef Meadow on Saturday. Beccles turned on the style in the second half and finished up winning by 32-10. Beccles had Hinsley back in the side but were still missing Captain Ling and Rix. There was a VP’s lunch before the game attended by sponsors from Musker McIntyre Estate Agents. This meant there was a large crowd to cheer the home side on. Campion started well but could only produce a missed penalty opportunity. Beccles then went in to the lead when Payne cut through the defence to score under the posts. Murray added the conversion. Some poor Beccles defence let Campion back in to the game. They scored two unconverted tries to go in to the lead. Beccles managed to get on level terms before half time with a Murray penalty. Beccles upped their game in the second half and pulled clear of their opposition. The first try came when Murray went on a run then fed the ball out wide to Wade who scored in the corner. Payne then added another try with a carbon copy of his first half try. Beccles put together some good running rugby and after a move that involved most of the team Schmidt evaded a strong tackle and touched down for a try. The Beccles pack was well on top lead by Musker McIntyre man of the match Shaun Lake. The finished off the performance with a push over try from a scrum, touched down by Hinsley. Murray added the second of his long range conversions from the touchline to seal the win by 32 – 10.
