Stowmarket 7-10 Beccles Bulls

Beccles picked up their second away win of the season with a victory at Stowmarket. A late long range penalty from Wade was enough to win the match by 10 -7.
Beccles were missing a few players for the trip but brought in Maeer and Hall to play in the back row and centre respectively.
Beccles started the game playing in to the wind and it was tough going in the first half. Stowmarket had their team bolstered by five Fijians and laid siege to the Beccles line. The Beccles defence was excellent and some big hitting tackling from the whole team stopped any points being scored. With minutes to go before half time Stowmarket were reduced to a long range penalty attempt to try and score some points. This was missed and there was no score at half time.
Beccles started the second half poorly and Stowmarket were able to score a converted try to go in to the lead. After this Beccles started using the wind to their advantage and pinning Stowmarket back in their half. After a driven lineout Whit Horse man of the match Sale sniped off the back of the maul and powered over in the corner. Wade added a superb conversion from the touch line to level the scores.
Beccles then went in to the lead when they won a penalty just inside their own half. Wade stepped up and curled the kick round in the wind and between the uprights.
Stowmarket turned up the pressure and Beccles looked in trouble when Rix was sent to the sin bin. Beccles upped their game and didn’t let Stowmarket make their man advantage tell. Three huge scrums in a row with minutes left gave Beccles turn over ball and knocked to fight out of Stowmarket. Beccles held out to win by 7- 10.
Beccles now have a week off before their last league game at home to Stowmarket.
