BECCLES
8-32 CRUSADERS
Beccles
crashed to their first home defeat of the season when they were beaten
by Crusaders in a London Division 4 North East league match. Some good
Crusaders back play was too much for the Bulls and the final score was
8 – 32 in favour of Crusaders.
Beccles probably the better team for the first 30 minutes where they had
the opposition in their own half for much of the game. White Horse Man
of the Match Holtzer was carrying the ball well and keeping the opposition
on the back foot. However, Beccles did not take their chances and only
had one Wade penalty to show for their pressure.
Crusaders began to get more territory and their back looked dangerous.
The added two tries and a penalty in quick succession before half time
to storm in to a commanding lead. The half time score was 3-20.
Beccles tried to get back in to the game after halftime but their finishing
let them down again. Beccles needed to keep the ball tight but could not
maintain possession for long enough to hurt the opposition. Crusaders
added a well worked try and then were awarded a controversial penalty
try to further stretch their lead.
Beccles managed to get on the score sheet when Rix finished off a rolling
maul to touch down in the corner. As Beccles pushed for more points gaps
began to open up and Crusaders were able to add one more try before the
final whistle went. The final score was 8 -32.
Beccles travel to Chelmsford on Saturday hoping to get back in to winning
ways before their EDF Energy Senior Cup Match at Bury St Edmunds the following
week.
