Beccles II 17 – Norwich III 14

Beccles Second team had a good win over Norwich Thirds in their penultimate game of the season. Beccles scored all of their points in the first half and held on to win by 17 – 14.

Beccles were able to put out a side with a good mixture of youth and experience. They started the game well and put pressure on their opposition. They were first on the score sheet when some good passing made space for Bob to sneak over in the corner. The conversion was added from the touchline.

Beccles were dominating the set pieces with Gavin Hewitt in particular doing well in the lineout, stealing a lot of opposition ball. Beccles scored again with a similar move to the frst try. Again Bob went over in the corner for his second try.

Beccles were able to score one more try before half time. Puxley was put in the clear and touched down. This gave a score of 17 – 0 at half time.

Both sides changed some personnel at half time and Norwich began to come back in to the game. They managed to score two converted tries to get within three points and set up a tense finish. Norwich gave it a good go but the Beccles defence held firm. They were helped by some good tackling from John Hewitt and Liam in particular. Norwich couldn’t score and Beccles held on for an impressive victory by 17 -14.

This week sees the final game of the season with both 1st and 2nd team entertaining Southwold for the Pony Moore Trophy. The second team game kicks off at 1:00pm and the first team game at 3:00pm.
